Mandolin Lessons

Beginners – Level 1
no previous experience needed!

Join mandolin player – Pierre Jacques Pleau and learn how to play this great sounding stringed instrument! 

Lessons for Beginners – Level 1 Include:
● tuning up the Mandolin
● how to hold the instrument and the pick
● easy warm-up exercises
● the basics of reading tablature &/or notes
● playing by ear
● picking songs – one note at a time
● basic cords and rhythm
● Fun easy to play songs – including Yankee Doodle, Oh Suzanna, Boil Them Cabbage Down, Cripple Creek, Red Haired Boy, Blackberry Blossom and many more! 

● Students need to provide their own instrument.
● Sign up for one lesson or weekly lessons
● Lessons are held year round in North Branch, MN
● New sessions start in Sept. at the Sunrise River School Music Room
● 30 min. Private Lessons:  $15/lesson
● 30 min.  Family Duo Lessons:  $20/lesson

Mandolins come in a few different shapes:  A style, F style (pictured with Pierre) and bowl back.  Mandolins are often used for playing Country, Bluegrass and Folk music.  The Mandolin is tuned like a violin; however, it has 2 of each string:  EE, AA, DD & GG and is played with a pick.
