Q: “My daughter loves singing, but hasn’t played an instrument – is the ukulele easy to play?
A:  “The ukulele is the easiest instrument to learn how to strum while singing. It has 4 nylon strings which are easy on the fingers and it’s small enough to take with you wherever you go!”

Q: “What size Ukulele does my child need?”
A:  “A Concert size ukulele is provided for the intro lesson so you can try it out and learn more about the instrument before you purchase one.” ​
“If you already have a ukulele – the Soprano, Concert or Tenor ukulele sizes are fine, however the Concert size is recommended for size & sound quality.”  ​

Q: “Is there anything my child needs to bring to their first lesson?”
A:  "A concert size Ukulele will be provided for the first lesson or you can bring your own.
Bring a water bottle - singers can get thirsty!"
Q: “What do students learn beyond playing songs?”
​A:  “There are a number of skills that are focused on during lessons:
 
• Good posture
• Breathing Exercises
• Vocal Warm-ups 
• Enunciation, tone, pitch, pace, rhythm, projection & expression
• Ukulele chord strumming patterns & how to play melodies
• The Voice/Ukulele learning method uses the aural music tradition of 
‘Listen, Watch & Sing/Play!’ as well as standard music notation!
Q: “Will there be opportunities for students to play together?”

Music Lesson Jams

​Take 30 min. private lessons back to back with a friend or family member (example: 1 ukulele & 1 violin) and spend part of the time playing music together!
Lessons include ‘Jamming’ with, fiddle, mandolin, ukulele &/or guitar accompaniment. ​

Jam Camps

As students progress they can sign-up for 'Jam Camps'

Festival Performances
